The Lydian Scale is a 7 note scale with an augmented 4th scale degree that is popular in jazz guitar. It is very similiar to the Major Scale, the only difference is the raised 4th. The root note is the key that the Lydian Scale will be played in. For example in the G Lydian Scale all "G" notes are root notes.
Lydian Scales can be broken up into patterns and shown on a Guitar Neck Diagram. Once you know the patterns you can play the Lydian Scales in any key because the patterns are moveable.
The Lydian Scale is one of the most popular guitar scales with Jazz Guitar. If you are interested in playing Lead Guitar or Soloing then learn these patterns and learn to play jazz guitar!
